Press Release dated 6 October 2004
Sterling, VA, October 2004 - Sensor Systems is pleased to announce the release of RemoteView Professional version 2.4.1 for Windows. The release of RemoteView version 2.4.1 represents a major increase in analytical capability to rapidly create superior situation awareness over broad areas incorporating vast amounts of image data.
The latest release of RemoteView™ Professional version 2.4.1 hosts a variety of powerful enhancements that make image visualization, information extraction and image management and retrieval easier than ever. Dejan Damjanovic, Air/Marine Transportation Domain Manager at Space Imaging Solutions offered his view of the power of this latest version.
RemoteView is a powerful analysis resource at Space Imaging. The new 3D Fly-Thru capabilities are excellent for creating rapid visualizations with IKONOS 1-meter Color imagery. The ability to view IKONOS Stereo image pairs in 'colorized difference mode' makes this new version an ideal solution for viewing our in-track stereo imagery on virtually any desktop system.
As with previous versions, all new tools in RemoteView follow the Sensor Systems design philosophy of creating reliable, high-performance functionality with a streamlined user interface. With RemoteView, the burden is on the software, not the user.
More Power - Easy to Use
Virtual Mosaic
With the new Virtual Mosaic Module users have a powerful tool for the rapid and simplified creation of terabyte-size mosaics composed of hundreds of georeferenced images. The Virtual Mosaic Module also allows users to create mosaics from images of different resolutions or from different sensors. For example, a high resolution satellite image from either DigitalGlobe or Space Imaging can be mosaicked with a Landsat image to provide high resolution information over a small area within the context of broad area coverage. The Virtual Mosaic Module incorporates a host of productivity enhancement tools streamlining the broad area search mission.
RemoteView Catalog
The Catalog tool allows the user to find images simply by drawing a box on a map of the world to find the right imagery. With Catalog users no longer have to remember where images are stored. Catalog will find the images for the user, regardless of whether the images are stored on a local hard dive, a network drive, or even on several drives on different machines or servers. Catalog comes as a standard feature of RemoteView Professional version 2.4.1. Catalog supports a wide range of data types in addition to imagery, such as maps, digital elevation models, etc. giving the user rapid access to extensive contextual information rounding out the situational awareness.
Image Perspective Transform
The Image Perspective Transform, or IPT, Module allows real-time interactive 3D visualization. With either a DTED or USGS DEM, a user can take any georeferenced image at any time and create a high-performance 3D rendering in real time with one-button operation. IPT allows for powerful terrain visualization and the creation of better products even in the hands of non-professionals. With IPT users also can create and save flight scenes with flight paths, and even record the results to AVI movie files.iGeoPos
In partnership with Integrity Geospatial Solutions, Sensor Systems has developed a precision positioning module for RemoteView Professional designed to address rapid geopositioning and time-critical strike requirements. The new iGeoPos Module offers users targeting-quality geo-coordinates and elliptical error estimates in a network-ready application. The iGeoPos™ module steps the user through the process with an intuitive wizard-based workflow, resulting in automated product creation using RemoteView templates. iGeoPos provides targeting precise geo-coordinates that are derived from both NTM and DPPDB data sources.
Broader USG Support
JPEG2000
RemoteView now supports the JPEG2000 format, which has been adopted by many US Government customers. Sensor Systems continues to meet the needs of the US Government's time-critical operational environments by offering a high-performance implementation of the JPEG2000 standard. NITF 2.1
RemoteView version 2.4.1 also supports the latest version of the National Image
Transmission Format, or NITF, version 2.1. Sensor Systems high-performance implementation of NITF 2.1 is tailored to support the operational environment of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and others in the DoD and Intelligence communities.
IBM T221 Support
RemoteView version 2.4.1 now supports the extremely high resolution IBM T221 monitor. With approximately 9.2 million pixels, the IBM T221 delivers an extremely high 'pixel-to-eyeball' ratio. RemoteView 2.4.1 scales its graphics interface for easy reading, but preserves the pixels per inch over the image Viewer to preserve maximum pixel resolution and information density.
International Support Localization
Sensor Systems has enhanced RemoteView in two ways to offer broader support to the international community. For users who wish to annotate images in non-English text, RemoteView now supports annotation in character sets other than English. If a user has a Microsoft™-supported character set loaded on a computer, the user can annotate any image in that character set.
Sensor Systems has also made it easier to translate the RemoteView graphical user interface into other languages. This enhancement will make it possible to empower extensive computer-literate user groups worldwide with the breakthrough technology of RemoteView. The translation capability is available to third parties to customize and localize RemoteView to their unique requirements.
