Sensor Systems Announces Release 2.2 of RemoteView-Pro

Sterling, VA, November 15, 2000 - Sensor Systems announced today the release of RemoteView Pro version 2.2 for UNIX platforms.  RemoteView Pro version 2.2 incorporates greatly expanded vector, GIS, multispectral and workflow enhancement capabilities, as well as a number of enhancements for the US Government plug-in, making RemoteView version 2.2 the leading UNIX-based image exploitation and analysis package that combines both very large image handling capabilities with the most widely-used GIS and multispectral tools.  As with previous versions, this latest version of RemoteView features powerful tools in an easy-to-use application with an intuitive interface and fast learning curve, allowing users to extract maximum value from satellite imagery and become productive more quickly.

With the release of this latest version of RemoteView users are able to create new vector layers and edit existing vector layers in the popular ESRI™ shape file format.    A full set of tools is now available to allow the user to view, add and edit the attributes and vectors and use them for querying the data.  This new capability gives users a powerful, comprehensive tool for creating and editing vector data within the context of gigabyte image files, such as those now becoming available commercially from Space Imaging.

A number of new multispectral tools have also been added to this latest version of RemoteView, which includes the ability to read the new Ikonos and Landsat formats.   Users can now read multispectral imagery that is distributed in separate files as well as create a single multispectral file from several separate files for further multispectral processing.  Users can also export multispectral imagery files into NITF format, allowing users to vastly exceed the 2.0 GB file size of Geotif format without any degradation in performance.  In addition, a very powerful, easy-to-use tool now lets users perform Principle Component Analysis on multispectral imagery.

Military users will find a number of specific enhancements that will make their jobs easier and faster.  RemoteView’s implementation of the U.S. Government’s Graphical Situation Display (GSD) version 3.0 in addition to the previous version 2.2, plus the inclusion of GraphPlot from the U.S. Navy gives the military user a much broader capability in plotting and exchanging vector-based symbols with other military organizations around the world.   Full support and integration of the latest USG mensuration package Ruler 10.0 for use with National imagery products as well as the ability to use Digital Elevation Terrain Data (DTED) in making the measurements with Ruler greatly enhances mensuration capability of RemoteView.  Users now have the choice of using either Ruler or RemoteView’s generic mensuration tool.  Sensor Systems has also included full scanner support for government customers who have access to high-resolution scanners such as the Vexcel. RemoteView now allows user to directly scan hardcopy image metadata.   This capability now allows users previously working in hardcopy mode to use the mensuration package Ruler in a softcopy mode.  In addition, TFRD datasets can now be chipped to NITF format files while preserving image metadata.

Users will find the new template capability greatly enhanced.  The implementation of variable defaults allow the user to set up templates that will not only auto-populate the image template with Image Metadata but also allow the input of variables that change with every template in one convenient, easy-to-use dialog box.

For users on large networks, RemoteView also supports FLEXlm license management software, allowing RemoteView to be used as a floating license package.  Organizations with numerous potential seats now have a means for equipping their users with the latest in leading-edge image analysis and exploitation software in a cost-effective manner. Sensor Systems is a leading developer of desktop applications for visualization and analysis of high-resolution satellite imagery. The RemoteView product family provides solutions ranging from simple desktop viewers to sophisticated mapping, cartography and geodesy applications running on UNIX and Windows 2000/NT platforms. Current users include government and commercial organizations around the world.
