Lockheed Martin and Sensor Systems to replace PIPS with RemoteView Professional

Sterling, VA, 14 September 2000: A joint announcement, included below, by Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems and Sensor Systems reports that Lockheed will discontinue its POWER Image Processing System (PIPS). For a limited time PIPS users will be able to exchange their PIPS licenses for RemoteView Professional from Sensor Systems at little or not cost.

To:            PIPS ELT Customers
From:        Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems and Sensor Systems
Subject:     PIPS Transition to Sensor Systems RemoteView

The mission of Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems (M&DS) includes ensuring our customers’ success by providing high quality products and services as a leader for information technology systems.  Maintaining this high quality requires—among many characteristics—flexibility in an ever-changing marketplace.

So that M&DS may concentrate on its currently installed PIPS base within NIMA and DoD Command needs for COTS-based Imagery and Geospatial systems integration, M&DS is discontinuing its electronic light table (ELT) product line, the POWER Image Processing System (PIPS).  Lockheed Martin and Sensor Systems have reached an agreement in which all current PIPS customers will be offered a free upgrade transition to the RemoteView-Pro image processing system.  During this transition period, Sensor Systems will waive the product’s normal license cost ($9,995 list), and honor the yearly maintenance costs negotiated by Lockheed Martin and its customers.  To most PIPS customers this will be a no-cost transition.

It is our goal to ensure continuous quality customer service for our PIPS ELT users.  Along these lines, we are committed to:

  • working with each PIPS ELT customer to facilitate a smooth transition to RemoteView-Pro, the market’s leading ELT package;
  • continuing PIPS Help Desk support until PIPS customers successfully transition to RemoteView-Pro, or until November 15 if they opt not to transition to RemoteView-Pro; and
  • providing direct access to M&DS and Sensor Systems management staff to address customer questions or concerns during the transition period.

RemoteView-pro offers the widest range of image processing capabilities available from any current ELT product available. Since its introduction in 1998, RemoteView-Pro has rapidly  become the dominant application in use within the DoD/Intel community and is the benchmark against which all other ELT’s are measured. Sensor Systems has established an excellent reputation for outstanding customer service and responsiveness. Sensor Systems has also demonstrated a commitment and ability to continuously add new and innovative features and capabilities to the RemoteView product line ensuring that your requirements will not outgrow the product’s capabilities.

As an added benefit RemoteView has rapidly established itself as the premier product for the commercial remote sensing market and provides file support and unique capabilities for working with the new generation of high resolution commercial imaging platforms.

At your option, the transition to RemoteView-Pro can begin immediately.  Sensor Systems will manage the transition, with consultation from Lockheed Martin.  If you haven’t already been contacted, we will be contacting you in the coming days.  We feel confident that RemoteView-Pro will satisfy all of your ELT requirements and that users will be very pleased with the new product. We are proud to offer this free upgrade opportunity to our entire PIPS customer base.

Please don’t hesitate to contact either of us with any questions regarding the above.
